Soprano Silk is unique in that it is constructed on a polyester
warp with a silk weft. The polyester warp gives a more robust
construction than traditional silk and makes it much easier
to work with. Soprano Silk still has all the beauty and richness
of traditional dupion silk. However, traditional silks have
been known to deteriorate after several years but the beauty
of Soprano Silk's polyester warp is that, as well as giving
extra stability, it also makes Soprano Silk more resilient
and longer lasting. Also, we have tested the light fastness
and achieved a much higher rating than we would have with
100% silk.
Please note that Soprano Silk is 137cm wide. Most other silks
are only 120cm wide, so this should be considered when comparing
prices.
